After a career in the military returned to my home state and currently live in Canisteo. My daily drives consist on passing signs that name towns both in English and that of the Seneca (or is it Iroquois?) beneath...
understand your page is not necessarily directed towards these tribes, but I've wondered all my life how medicine men are appointed. I've read conflicting information about this on the internet, and perhaps it's just that different tribes have different "requirements". Must they have direct familial lineage to become one? And most importantly, are they ever open to treating non-Natives? I have PTSD, as many of us Vets do, and I couldn't imagine a group of people in the US that understand the complexities besides Native Americans. There is such facilitation with Natives and your way of life in my area, so much that people state they're of Native lineage and they're not, so I can't rely 100% on what folks say around me, so I found your page on a search engine about 5 hours ago and am still reading!
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. And thank-you for such an interesting, thoughtful, informative web site! I have studied some on the Priest, Ravenmocker, and Witches. I have read very little on the conjure and he went to war with the Red Warriors. I was told that each village had several people who preformed rituals living with them. I am interested in finding out how many lived at the same time in each village and what their duties were.
